A Special Prayer Chanted for Team Netherlands as They Leave for Warm-up Matches Ahead of the World Cup

With the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup just a week away, preparations are already in full swing, with all the teams landing in India ahead of the marquee event. Among the top 10 teams that will take the field and confront each other on the big stage, the Netherlands chose to arrive early in India for practice sessions.Ā 

As usual, teams will play warm-up matches first before the big tournament. The Netherlands Cricket Team arrived as early as September 20 to start with their preparations. Currently, they are done with their training sessions in Alur, which commenced on September 21, and now they will be facing Australia and India in the upcoming warm-up matches. 

A delight to the eyes

As the Netherlands cricket team were leaving Bangalore for their warm-up match against Australia, the airport sight of the team was being idolised by a lot of Indian fans. Ahead of their departure, a clip went viral on social media where the team was seen listening to a special prayer to seek blessings and good wishes for the upcoming matches. Interestingly, the prayer was being chanted in Sanskrit, India’s sacred and one of the oldest languages that is used while offering prayers. This heartfelt video of the team was definitely a sight to cherish. 

About the “Oranje army”

Also known as the “flying Dutchmen,” the Netherlands Cricket team took an exit from Bengaluru to kick-start their preparations for the World Cup by playing warm-up matches first. Their first warm-up match is scheduled for September 20 against Australia at the Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala. The second warm-up match is scheduled between India and the Netherlands and will commence on October 3 at the same venue.

The Netherlands will start off their World Cup campaign on October 6, playing its first group stage match against Pakistan at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.
