Team India lands in Delhi
Days after winning the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian cricket team arrived in Delhi on Thursday. The Men in Blue had been stranded in Barbados following their final match against South Africa due to the severe destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean.
Today, social media was filled with videos of the grand welcome Team India received at the Delhi Airport. A video shared by news agency PTI shows captain Rohit Sharma proudly displaying the T20 World Cup trophy as fans and security officials cheer for the team.
The team also met with India’s honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence around 11:00 AM IST. The team will be travelling to Mumbai soon as the men in blue have arranged for a winners parade with fans.
Virat Kohli spends valuable time with family.
It was heartbreaking for many cricket fans when ex-captain Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20 cricket along with Captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. It is safe to say that Kohli’s knock of 76 runs in the finals against South Africa was one of the biggest assets to the team. Kohli also won the Player Of The Match title for his impressive game that day.
After getting a cheerful welcome at the airport, team India traveled to the ITC Maurya where it was Rishabh Pant who carried the trophy inside. However, for Kohli, there was a sweet surprise waiting for him in his hotel room.
Virat Kohli’s brother and sister, along with their families, were waiting for him in the hotel room. Virat spent some time with them, took pictures, and even let them wear his prestigious gold medal. Videos and pictures of this interaction are now going viral on the internet.
Forgetting his jet lag, a tired-looking Virat clicked pictures with his nephews and niece who had all come to congratulate the batting legend. Virat also posed with his brother, Vikas Kohli and the Gold medal he won after the match.
