Aakash Chopra has questions for KKR captain, Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan’s captaincy decision has been criticised by former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra. He opined that he did not understand the strategy of Morgan.

Chopra questions Morgan’s strategy

In a high-scoring match Kolkata Knight Riders fell short of 18 runs against Chennai Super Kings. While reflecting on KKR’s defeat, Aakash Chopra, former Indian cricketer said, “I am still not able to understand Eoin Morgan‘s captaincy because this is the only team which has bowled spin in the powerplay overs on this pitch. Everyone comes here and bowls the fast bowlers and gets wickets. Deepak Chahar took wickets in the second innings, so you should bowl the fast bowlers in the first innings at least.”

He questioned the decision of Morgan give new ball to Varun Chakravarthy on a Wankhede track that has more assistance for the seamers. “He started with Varun Chakravarthy and after that we also saw Sunil Narine in the powerplay. If you keep bowling spin in the powerplay, it is an out of the box thinking but I am not able to understand it,” added Chopra.

Morgan might face some tough questions

It was an unbelievable chase by Kolkata Knight Riders after a mammoth target set by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Thanks to Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, and Pat Cummins they almost came close to the finishing line. Eventually they lost the match and the efforts were hailed by all.

Chopra is certain that the team management will be having difficult questions for the captain. Morgan as a player and batsman has not been able to make any impact as such so far according to him. “This is the third consecutive loss for Kolkata after starting with a win. I am pretty sure they are going to pose some tough questions to captain Morgan because runs are not flowing from his bat and the changes he is making are not cutting it for me,” signed off Chopra.
