After Multiple Upsets Rinku Singh Makes Big Comeback, Scores 48 off 22 Balls In India vs Zimbabwe 2nd T20I

The Indian cricket team has just won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 naming the players as ICC World champions. While the team enjoys this victory, another squad is busy preparing for another T20I series. Shubman Gill is the captain for a fairly young India squad for the tour. In the 2nd T20I between India and Zimbabwe, Rinku Singh makes much needed comeback to score 48 off 22.

The India tour of Zimbabwe started on 6 July with a T20 match between the two teams at Harare sports club. In the first match, India won the toss, yet lost the match by 13 runs.

In the second match, India won the toss and opted to bat first. The team scored a whopping 234/2 in 20 overs, with a stunning century by youngster Abhishek Sharma.

Rinku Singh makes much needed comeback

India’s rising star Rinku Singh had hit a turbulent phase in his career this year. Singh had an average performance in IPL 2024. The 27 year old played 14 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders and scored a total of 168 runs this season. Rinku had an average score of 18.67 with his highest score being 26 runs. Singh scored no 50s and 100s this season.

After such average stats, Singh was left out of the 15-member squad for India. Rinku was however drafted as an extra for team India, but he did not get to play even 1 match despite traveling with the team throughout the tournament.

In India’s Tour of Zimbabwe, Rinku scored 0 runs in the first match. This led to a social media tirade with fans trolling Rinku Singh and asking Shivam Dube to come and play for the team.

In today’s match, Rinku Singh came to the field after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal and scored 48 runs off 22 balls. Rinku was not out in the match, and had a strike rate of 218.18.
