Paris Olympics 2024 Bronze winner Indian hockey team players pay tribute to Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The team took time to pay respect to the legend on Saturday in New Delhi.

The Indian players landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning. Thy received a warm welcome before proceeding to Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. At the stadium, the team honored the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand.

Harmanpreet Singh expresses his feelings over the win and return to India

Greeted by family and throngs of fans, an emotional Harmanpreet Singh said to reporters, “It is heartwarming to see Indian fans come out to receive and congratulate us for the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.”

“The team left no stone unturned in preparing for the Olympics, and to see our efforts bear fruit and witness the whole country rejoice in our victory is an inexplicable feeling.” He added.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Indian men’s hockey team delivered impressive performances, including a 3-2 victory over Australia. This is their first Olympic win against the team in 52 years.

In the quarter-finals, they played exceptionally well against Great Britain, defending with one player down for over 40 minutes. Thus, they won 4-2 in the penalty shootouts, thanks to PR Sreejesh’s outstanding performance.

Vice-captain and two-time bronze medallist Hardik Singh, 25, highlighted the camaraderie within the squad. He noted that it was the teamwork, trust and belief that won them the medal.

“The trust we had in each other, the unshakeable belief that a teammate would step up if you faltered. That s what pushed us to always give our best on the field. I think the match against Great Britain really showcased this.” Hardik said.

“The midfielders had the forwards’ backs, the defenders supported the midfielders. And if all else failed, we had the big man, PR Sreejesh, between the sticks who bailed us out on numerous occasions.” He added.
