Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that fast bowler Jeremiah Louis will not participate in the final Test against England due to a hamstring injury. As a replacement, the team has chosen Akeem Jordan to step in. This decision ensures a direct substitution, maintaining the balance of the squad. Jordan’s inclusion is expected to provide a similar pace and style to Louis, which is crucial for the team’s strategy in this pivotal match. The change aims to keep the West Indies’ bowling attack strong and consistent.
Jeremiah Louis Ruled out Before Final Test:
Jeremiah Louis, who missed the first two Tests, sustained his hamstring injury during the second Test at Trent Bridge. Although he will stay with the squad for ongoing treatment, he won’t be participating in the final Test.
In his stead, Akeem Jordan has been brought in. Jordan, who was actively playing cricket in the UK, has promptly joined the West Indies squad and is set to participate in the training session at Edgbaston on Wednesday. This move is intended to ensure that the team’s pace attack remains robust and ready for the final Test.
Akeem Jordan, though yet to debut in Test cricket, has played 19 first-class matches since 2022, claiming 67 wickets at an average of 24.10. His notable performances include two five-wicket hauls, with his best innings figures being 5 for 44. Jordan’s solid first-class record highlights his potential and readiness to contribute effectively in the Test arena.
In addition to Akeem Jordan, the West Indies squad features several seam-bowling options, including Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and all-rounder Jason Holder. These bowlers provide a strong and diverse attack, offering a range of skills and experience to complement Jordan’s addition to the team.
West India’s Upcoming Final Test:
England is ahead 2-0 in the three-match Test series against the West Indies, having won both of the first two matches. They first secured a commanding victory by an innings at Lord’s, followed by a decisive 241-run win at Trent Bridge. This latter match was historic for England, as they became the first team to score over 400 runs in both innings of a Test at Trent Bridge, with scores of 416 and 425. The series will be concluded with the final Test of the Richards-Botham Trophy, which is set to commence on Friday, July 26, at Edgbaston.
