Punjab beat Baroda by 20 runs to lift the SMAT 2023 trophy at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium today. With Anmolpreet Singh named as the Man of the Match, Arshdeep Singh outwitted Baroda’s batsmen by picking up 3 wickets in the penultimate over, conceding just 4 runs leaving Baroda in disguise.

BCCI Domestic took to its official Twitter handle to commemorate the maiden victory secured by Punjab. It stated “PUNJAB WIN” along with clapping hands emojis. Superb performance from the @mandeeps12-led side as they lift their maiden SMAT title.”
Having won the toss first, Baroda skipper Krunal Pandya chose to field first with Punjab delivering a commendable target of 224 runs with a loss of 4 wickets. Falling short of 20 runs, Baroda could only manage to chase 203 runs losing 7 wickets. Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh smashed a brilliant 112-run century off 61 deliveries. Along with such an extraordinary knock, Arshdeep also scalped a 4-wicket haul with an economy rate of 5.75.
Harbhajan Singh heaps praise on the team
Legendary former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh lauded the whole team for their immense dedication and hard work that led them to its first SMAT title. In the tweet he posted, Harbhajan remarked “It gives me immense pride to see these boys from Punjab create history by winning their maiden SMAT title.
