Swapnil Kusale, a Ticket Collector Clinches the Olympics medal

Swapnil Kusale began his shooting journey at 14 when he joined a residential school through a Maharashtra government initiative. Selected for a state sports scheme, he chose shooting and quickly excelled. Swapnil won the 50m rifle prone title at the 2015 Asian Championships and the national title.

The olympian surpassed London Olympics bronze medallist Gagan Narang and Chain Singh. His interest in the 50m 3P event grew during his junior years. In 2015, Kusale started working as a Ticket Collector for Indian Railways.

His job as a TC in the Indian Railways helped him acquire his first rifle. On Thursday, the 28-year-old from Kolhapur won a bronze medal in the men’s 50m 3P final at the Paris Olympics.
