Rising cricket star Anuj Rawat has expressed his admiration for former Indian captain Virat Kohli, praising his humble and approachable nature off the field. Rawat, who has had the opportunity to interact with Kohli, shared that the cricketer’s off-field persona is quite different from the aggressive demeanour fans see during matches.
Contrasting Personalities On and Off the Field
Kohli is widely known for his fierce and competitive attitude on the field, often leading his team with intense passion and energy.
This side of Kohli is well-documented, and many fans and critics alike have noted his aggressive behaviour, which is sometimes seen as intimidating.
However, according to Rawat, Kohli’s off-field personality is a stark contrast to his on-field image.
“Virat Kohli bhaiya is very open, very nice and very polite with youngsters and everyone off the field. Everyone has seen him on the field as aggressive, but off the field, he is very calm and very nice and humble, talking to everyone,” said Rawat. This statement sheds light on Kohli’s ability to balance his professional intensity with a more relaxed and approachable demeanour when he is away from the pitch.
Anuj’s Impeccable Performance in DPL
A remarkable storm hit the Delhi Premier League (DPL T20) on Thursday 30 August one that happens only once in a while.
This storm, led by Anuj Rawat’s batting, might have dashed Old Delhi 6’s hopes, but it certainly brought joy to Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).Â
Anuj Rawat, who plays for RCB in the IPL, smashed an unbeaten 121 in the DPL T20. Along with fellow opener Sujal Singh (108), he put on a 241-run partnership, catching the attention of cricket fans. Anuj’s innings included 11 sixes and 6 fours in just 61 balls, while Sujal Singh hit 9 sixes and 7 fours in his 57-ball knock.
Anuj Rawat’s century might help him secure a spot in the IPL. With Dinesh Karthik (DK) likely to retire, there’s an opening for a wicketkeeper in RCB. As teams prepare to announce their retention lists for IPL 2025, Anuj has strengthened his case to be retained.
Anuj has been part of the RCB squad for the last two seasons, mainly serving as the second wicketkeeper, with Dinesh Karthik being the first choice.
However, with DK’s retirement, Anuj Rawat is now a strong contender for the primary wicketkeeper-batsman role at RCB. His versatility in playing both in the top and middle order also makes him a valuable asset, increasing his chances of being retained by RCB.
