Arshdeep Singh Becomes The Top Preference For Selectors In Border Gavaskar Trophy In November

BCCI Selectors are considering picking short-form bowler Arshdeep Singh for the Border Gavaskar trophy hosted by Australia in November. The left-arm pacer has only played short-form cricket for team India but the Selectors are keen on seeing him perform in red ball matches.

The young speedster has yet to debut in the longest format of the game. However, according to TOI reports, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer has requested to play a few domestic red-ball games to improve his chances for the upcoming Test series in Australia.

“There’s a real chance that Arshdeep could be India’s trump card” Official says

According to an official source, Arshdeep will be India’s key bowler alongside the legendary Jasprit Bumrah in Australia. Arshdeep last played in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took 17 wickets in seven matches during the tournament hosted by the USA and West Indies.

“Arshdeep has moved the ball impressively in white-ball matches for India. He could be asked to play a few domestic red-ball games, starting with the Duleep Trophy on September 5, to enhance his chances of selection for the Australia tour. There’s a real chance that he could be India’s trump card, along with (Jasprit) Bumrah, in Australia”. A source said, according to TOI.
