India received a significant boost when it was revealed that Ravichandran Ashwin would rejoin the team on Day 4 of the 3rd Test against England. The spinner had initially left the Rajkot Test and withdrawn from the Indian squad due to a family medical emergency. His return adds strength to the team, marking a positive turn of events for India in the ongoing Test series.
Ashwin’s Emergency and Board’s Help
On February 16, Ashwin achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the second Indian cricketer to claim 500 wickets in Test matches. This accomplishment adds another shining jewel to his illustrious career, highlighting his exceptional skill and impact in the world of cricket. After achieving this milestone, he received news of his family emergency. He immediately flew back to his home, Chennai. As per reports, his mother was hospitalized. He missed the entire day 3, due to that reason.
Amid a family emergency, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized a special charter flight for Ashwin to return home swiftly. This compassionate gesture ensured he could be with his family during this challenging time. Later, when he needed to rejoin his team in Rajkot, another flight was arranged, demonstrating the BCCI’s commitment to supporting players during personal crises. Ashwin’s journey highlights the importance of empathy and support within the cricketing community, showing that care extends beyond the boundaries of the game.
