Ashwin’s Batting Practice in the Middle of the Night Leave Netizens Amazed

After India vs. Australia’s first match on the previous day of the 3-day ODI Series, India emerged triumphant over Australia by 5 wickets. Just at midnight, a rare view caught everyone’s attention, which saw India’s left arm off-spinner honing his batting skills. This sheer determination by Ashwin to sharpen his skills was praised by many.

India is already leading the ODI series by 1-0 and will be playing the remaining two matches in Indore and Rajkot. In the first match that was played yesterday, Ashwin unleashed his magical spell and took down the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne for 1/47.

Taking a look into Ashwin’s dedication

Catching him off guard in the middle of the night, Ashwin was seen venturing out of his comfort zone to practise his batting skills alongside coach Rahul Dravid fielding at square leg. This unusual and admirable display left the members of the broadcasting panel, particularly Mark Waugh and Abhishek Nayar, stunned.

Former Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nayar expressed it by saying, “How cool is that? He is batting right at the centre; he’s got a net out. And that’s where the support staff really works hard. It’s past 10, it’s late, and they are still going. He’s got Rahul Dravid at square leg, Vikram Rathour at slips, and Mark Waugh at fine leg, so it’s a terrific part of the preparation. I’m sure the management has told him to work on his batting.”

Will Ashwin stand a chance in the World Cup?

India is all set to host the ICC Cricket World Cup beginning on October 5. With just 15 days to go until the biggest cricket tournament, there is no doubt that R. Ashwin is trying to put his every effort into securing a place in India’s squad for the World Cup. After his return to ODI cricket after 21 months, Ashwin is all set to leave his fans spell-bound once again.

In India vs. Australia ODI series, Ashwin was called up as Axar Patel’s replacement when the latter sustained an injury in the just concluded Asia Cup. It is yet to be seen if Ashwin can make his chance for the World Cup, failing Axar Patel’s recovery, in due course of time.
