Australia Starts the T20 WC Strong with 39-Run Victory, Captain Marsh Praises Team’s Adaptation to T20 Style

Another happening morning recorded in the T20 World Cup. On June 6, the cricket world witnessed two thrilling matches. In the second match, Australia and Oman locked horns in an exciting clash. The Barbados spectators witnessed the Aussie brilliance and fighting spirit of Oman. However, Australia registered a thrilling win in this match by 39 runs and gave a positive start to the tournament. After winning the match, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh opened up.

A Positive Start for the Aussies:

On the 9th match of the T20 World Cup, Australia locked horns with Oman in Barbados. While batting first, Australia gave a decent start. Travis Head scored 12 runs in 10 balls. While opening the innings David Warner scored an excellent century and played a knock of 56 runs in 51 balls. Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh also walked away early. Among all, Marcus Stoinis grabbed the limelight. He scored an exciting half-century and remained unbeaten scoring 67 runs. 

On the other hand, the domination continued even in the second innings. Mitchell Starc got the first breakthrough by dismissing Pratik Athavale in the very first over. Along with them, the other bowlers created pressure on the opponent. After creating magic with the ball, Stoinis shined with the ball. He secured 3 wickets in 19 runs. Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, and Adam Zampa got 2 wickets each. With that dominating performance, Australia won the match by 39 runs.

With that dominating 39-run win, Australia gave a positive kickstart to the tournament.  The whole Australian squad played a team game and won the match. That is a huge boost for them. After clinching the victory in the very first match, the Australian captain Mitchell Marsh said, “Good to get the win. We are kind of going to the old T20 style here in this tournament. Took his time and showed his experience.”

Later he updated about Starc’s cramp and upcoming goals. He said, “Starcy was just a cramp so didn’t want to take a chance. We are looking forward to playing England. Different conditions. Oman v Australia was a sound one. There is sun here and we will enjoy that. It’s going to be a great game.”
