On the 15th match of the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka at the Grand Prairie Stadium. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bowl first. While bowling in the first innings, the Bangladeshi bowlers gave tough competition. Initially, Taskin Ahmed dismissed Kusal Mendis. Mustafizur Rahman sent Kamindu Mendis back in 4 runs.
Pathum Nissanka was moving well towards his half-century but Mustafizur Rahman dismissed him on a very crucial point. Bangladeshi bowlers took the charge. Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain took 3 wickets each. Taskin Ahmed took 2 wickets in 25 runs. Tanzib Hasan Sakib took 1 wicket. They restricted Sri Lanka to 124 runs.
While batting in the second innings, Bangladesh struggled to reach the target of 125 runs. They lost the first few wickets quickly. Towhid Hridoy scored 40 runs in 20 balls. Liton Das scored 36 runs in 38 balls. Shakib Al Hasan scored 8 runs in 14 balls. Mahmudullaj played an unbeaten knock of 16 runs in 13 balls. They reached the target in 19 overs and won the match.

Bangladesh gave a positive start to their T20 World Cup campaign. They registered a narrow 2-wicket win over Sri Lanka. After winning the match, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto talked about this. He said, “Happy with the way everyone played. Run chase wasn’t easy but we didn’t bat well to be honest. Pitch was pretty good.”
While praising his teammates, he said, “Litton showed his skill today. Hridoy the way he played that over it helped us. Happy for the crowd and I hope they will come again and support us.”
