The ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test series took an ugly turn on Friday when Bangladesh’s super fan, ‘Tiger Robi,’ was allegedly attacked by local fans at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Robi, known for his unwavering support for the Bangladesh cricket team, claimed that he was physically assaulted during the first day of the second Test. The incident quickly escalated on social media, with videos of the altercation going viral.
The Incident: Conflicting Reports from Robi and the Police
According to Robi, he was enthusiastically cheering for Bangladesh when some local fans approached him during lunch and attacked him.
He stated that he was hit on his back and lower abdomen, causing him to have difficulty breathing. Security personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, the police at the venue presented a different version. They stated that Robi was found struggling to breathe near the C Block entrance, but they attributed his condition to dehydration rather than an assault.
The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to determine the facts of the incident, while the investigation remains ongoing.
