Banton’s injury occurred during a football session on Wednesday morning, which was part of the team’s regular warm-up routine. 

Despite initial concerns, an X-ray confirmed there was no fracture. However, Banton is set to undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage. 

Despite the injury, he hobbled out to bat at No. 11, scoring an unbeaten 28 off 28 balls.

Somerset’s director of cricket, Andy Hurry, acknowledged the situation and confirmed that more updates would be available after further tests. 

“Tom went over awkwardly, and unfortunately, he couldn’t field. His determination to bat despite the injury shows how much Somerset means to him,” Hurry said.
