BCCI Announces India’s T20I Squad for South Africa Series; Mayank Yadav, Shivam Dube Miss Out Due to Injuries 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team, which is set to play four matches starting on November 8 at Kingsmead, Durban. The announcement comes with some notable omissions due to injuries.

Mayank Yadav, Shivam Dube Miss Out 

Among the significant absentees are Mayank Yadav, who made his international debut in the previous series against Bangladesh, and Riyan Parag. Both players are sidelined due to injuries. The BCCI confirmed that Parag is currently undergoing treatment for a chronic right shoulder injury at the Centre of Excellence.

Shivam Dube, who missed the Bangladesh series with an injury, also remains unavailable. These absences have opened the door for new talent to step into the squad.

New Faces in the Indian T20I Squad for South Africa Series 

The selection committee has included three players who will be making their maiden appearances in the T20I format. Ramandeep Singh, a talented middle-order batter, has been recognized for his strong performances with the Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2024 and in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

In addition to Ramandeep, bowlers Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yash Dayal have also received their first call-ups. Dayal had previously been selected for a Test squad in October but is yet to make his debut. 

Retained Players and All-Rounders

Several players from the previous series against Bangladesh have retained their spots. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, both of whom opened in that series, continue to be vital parts of the lineup. Youngster Tilak Varma, who led India A to a semi-final finish in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, has also been included.

India’s bowling lineup showcases a mix of youth and experience. The pace attack includes Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, along with Vyshak and Dayal. Hardik Pandya will contribute as an all-rounder, adding depth to both batting and bowling.

In the spin department, Varun Chakaravarthy has earned his place following impressive performances against Bangladesh, alongside fellow spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Axar Patel has been transferred from the Test squad to the T20I squad.
