After the Duleep Trophy, Indian fans experienced the iconic Irani Trophy. The Ekana Stadium hosted the iconic tournament where Mumbai and the Rest of India locked horns. In that tournament, Mumbai showcased their dominating side. In the first innings, Mumbai had a shaky start. But captain Ajiyanka Rahane’s explosive knock of 97 runs gave a big boost. But Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten double-century played the anchor role in Mumbai’s first innings. 

After scoring a massive total of 537 runs in the first innings, Mumbai bowlers carried on the form. Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian were exceptional scoring 3 wickets each. Mohit Avasthi secured 2 wickets and restricted the opponent to 416 runs. 

With a huge lead, they entered into the second innings. While opening the innings, Prithvi Shaw scored an exceptional half-century and played a knock of 76 runs in 105 balls. But the middle-order batters couldn’t contribute much. But Tanush Kotian stole the show with his unbeaten century. He remained unbeaten scoring 114 runs in 150 balls. He formed a crucial 158-run partnership with Mohit Avasthi for the ninth wicket. The entire Mumbai squad dominated the opponent and sealed the win because of taking a lead in the first innings.
