Although Stokes isn’t playing due to a hamstring injury sustained earlier this summer, his look-alike made sure his presence was still felt. The doppelganger, who had previously gained attention during England’s series against the West Indies, amused everyone with his resemblance to the England captain.
As cameras zoomed in on him, the doppelganger enthusiastically raised his arms, drawing immediate reactions from the crowd. Stokes, dressed casually in a black hoodie and sunglasses, couldn’t hide his amusement and acknowledged the moment with a thumbs-up. The interaction became even more entertaining when the look-alike removed his jacket to reveal an England Test jersey with “Stokesy” and the number 55 on the back. The real Stokes was visibly delighted, enjoying the playful moment.
This isn’t the first time Stokes has had a humorous interaction with his doppelganger. Last month, during the second Test against the West Indies at Trent Bridge, a similar scene unfolded, with Stokes reacting with laughter and surprise as he spotted his look-alike on the big screen.
While this cheerful interaction provided some levity, it’s unfortunate that Stokes’ on-field presence is missed due to his injury. Ollie Pope has stepped in as captain in his absence, and England continues to perform well, with their bowlers putting them in a strong position against Sri Lanka.
