Ben Stokes is Set to Return to The Hundred with Northern Superchargers

The Hundreds League is all set to see Ben Stokes’ excellence on the big stage once again. He will return to play in The Hundred this summer after three years. The ECB has allowed him to join the Northern Superchargers for the second half of the group stage. Excitement is waiting for the superstar.

Stokes is Coming Bank in the Hundreds:

Ben Stokes will return to The Hundred this summer after a three-year absence. Despite being named in England’s squads, Stokes has not played since becoming England‘s Test captain, although he made two appearances for the Superchargers in the inaugural 2021 season.

This season, Stokes has been made available to play four group-stage matches for the Superchargers, starting with an away game against Birmingham Phoenix on August 6. He will also be eligible to play in the knockout stages if the Superchargers qualify.

More About the Hundreds 2024:

The Hundred kicks off on Tuesday, July 23, but the men’s teams will miss several star players in its opening week due to scheduling conflicts with the third Test against West Indies. Many leading overseas players have also been engaged in Major League Cricket, overlapping with The Hundred’s initial stages.

England’s batters will join The Hundred after the third Test at Edgbaston. Meanwhile, allrounders and bowlers from the squad will become available starting August 6, contributing to the latter half of the group stage matches.

Replacement News Before the Tournament:

Shoaib Bashir and Mark Wood are not part of The Hundred due to lacking contracts, while Dillon Pennington and Matthew Potts’ availability depends on their commitments in Birmingham. The ECB plans to finalize injury replacements on Thursday. Will Smeed of Phoenix and Tash Farrant of Oval Invincibles will miss out due to hamstring injuries.

Riley Meredith of Trent Rockets and James Neesham of London Spirit have signed short-term deals as cover for Joe Root and Zak Crawley respectively. Tim Southee steps in for Naseem Shah at Phoenix after PCB denied Shah’s No-Objection Certificate. Meanwhile, Mitchell Santner will fill in for Daniel Sams at Superchargers due to Sams’ knee injury.
