The Bihar State Sports Authority has announced a divisional ESports championship recently. The Bihar Divisional ESports championship 2024 starts registrations from August 1 and these Registrations will go on until August 10.
The competition will only entertain ESports players from the Indian state of Bihar. The official website of BSSA is expected to share the registration links that can help the participants know more.
BSSA announces Divisional ESports championship
In a video, Ravindra Shankaran, the Director General and CEO of BSSA announced the upcoming championship. There was an emphasis on promoting ESports in Bihar as well as motivation to compete in the ESports Olympics.
“We want the youth of Bihar to represent the Indian team in the upcoming ESports olympics. With this aim in mind, we are organizing the first divisional ESports championship in the month of August. The details of this will be available on the official BSSA website, along with our social media channels like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.”
“A medal is a medal” BSSA CEO on ESports Olympics
Shankaran further spoke out in favour of ESports. He acknowledged the ESports Olympics and motivated the Bihar youth to come up and practice. The BSSA aims to train youngsters with a knack of ESports games to be a part of the Indian contingent.
“A medal is a medal, whether it comes from Kabaddi or ESports. Since ESports is now also recognised by the Olympics, we are trying to motivate and train our youngsters for the Olympics so that the Indian players enter the Olympic Games for ESports as well. Let’s come together and take part in the Divisional tournament so that the selected candidates get better opportunities in the future.”
The Olympic Esports Series is an annual event by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that features various virtual sports and video games. The IOC’s interest in esports began in 2007, with esports included in the Asian Indoor Games.
After an online-only Olympic Virtual Series in 2021, the Olympic Esports Series was announced in November 2022. The inaugural event was held in Singapore in June 2023, with another planned for 2024.
