Bret Lee Believes Indian Team Has All The Potential To Win Their Maiden T20 Women’s World Cup

Former Australia player Bret Lee believes that this Indian team has all the potential to win their maiden T20 Women’s World Cup. He went on to applaud the players like Shafali Verma for such rise of the team.

Lee backs Indian team

Harmanpreet Kaur led Indian team topped the group stage with four wins out of four matches to book their semi-final seat. They are all ready to cross the next hurdle and take one step ahead to their dream. If they manage to reach the final, this would the first time of Indian team doing so in the T20 World Cup. Speaking about the Indian team, Brett Lee said that what was never done before could be achieved by this team now. He explained, “They’ve never reached the final but this is a different India team from the one they’ve seen before. They’ve combined match-winners in Shafali Verma and Poonam Yadav with consistent players with both bat and ball.”

In an interaction with the ICC Lee said that Indian team would make it to the final and it would be very difficult to beat them this time. “They’ll go into the semi-finals full of confidence and it will take an excellent team to stop them from reaching the Final.”

Lee on Shafali Verma

While speaking about the next stage, Lee backed the teen sensation Shafali Verma who in no time became the mainstay of the playing XI. According to the Aussie legend, Verma’s batting is full of energy and an excellent thing to watch.”Shafali Verma has been excellent at the top of the order, she’s brought a fearless energy to India’s batting and been brilliant to watch.” He also added, “You feel she can go even bigger as well she hasn’t reached 50 yet, which is both exciting for those watching and worrying for the bowlers.”

Lee reminded how good Indian team was against the Aussies and hence it was no surprise of them going forward as the topper of their group.

“We saw from the opener against Australia just how good India can be, and it’s no surprise they’ve continued that form to top Group A,” he added.
