The arrival of the red ball cricket in India after a long, ended in a thrilling way. India registered a clean sweep over Bangladesh. After defeating the visitors by a massive 280-run in the first Test, Team India defeated Bangladesh in the second Test match by 7 wickets. In the second Test, Jasprit Bumrah shined with the ball by securing some crucial breakthroughs. After the series win, Bumrah opened up about the win, performance, and conditions.
On the Impressive Win:
After wrapping up the first Test match by a massive 280-run win in Chennai, Team India moved to Kanpur for the second Test match of the series. But the beginning of the Test match was disappointing as the rain interruptions spoiled two whole days. But despite that, the Indian side showcased exceptional characters.
In the Kanpur Test, Jasprit Bumrah was a key bowler for India. After the play resumed on day 4, Bumrah secured three crucial wickets in the first innings by using the situation correctly. In the second innings, he carried his exceptional form and secured three more wickets while conceding only 17 runs. That incredible performance gave a huge boost to India’s performance.
After witnessing Jasprit Bumrah’s outstanding bowling, fans were calling him magician. While talking about this, Bumrah said, “It feels really good. I don’t think about all those adjectives.”
While talking about the win, the pacer said, “It is really good to get this win, we had lost a couple of days.. the way we batted yesterday and it was a test for our fitness as well as you see how hot the weather is, bowling every day and trying to create an impact, a really special win.
On the Condition:
Before the match started in Kanpur, a lot of buzz was going over the pitch. But the rain added extra thrills. The condition played a huge impact on the pitch behavior. While talking about this, he said, “You use your experience but it is easier said than done, because you have played a lot of cricket and played on different surfaces you find solutions, this wicket was completely different to what we got in Chennai, so quickly communicated with the others and tried to find the best option.”
Later he added, “ I like that challenge when you go against your nature, conditions are not favourable, the wicket is not favourable, how do you get answers, all of these battles I really like. We have played a lot of cricket in India, you understand the nature of the wicket and the SG ball sometimes reverses as well but sometimes because of the humidity you are not able to keep the ball dry, so you find solutions and discuss it with other players as well.”
Praising Akashdeep’s Brilliance:
In the Test series, the pacers showcased their brilliance along with the spinner. Among the pacers, Akashdeep grabbed huge attention. The young speedster secured five wickets in these two Test matches. While talking about him Bumrah reveals how the young pacer always looks upon him for advice to deliver better performance.
Bumrah said, “He (Akash Deep) comes up to me quite a lot before a spell and asks me what is happening and what should I do, we have had a lot of interesting conversations, the energy he brings on the ball, he gives his best on the field and when he’s bowling, he has got a lot of heart and that is a good sign for us going forward. Hopefully, he goes from strength to

On Utilizing the Break:
For any prospect of life, a break is mandatory for everyone. This works the same for the crickets also. After lifting the much-awaited T20 World Cup trophy in June, Jasprit Bumrah and some other senior players went for a long break. Bumrah came back from the break through the Test series against Bangladesh. After winning the Test match, he talked about how the break is important to get back in better shape.
Bumrah said, “We got a break after the WC, we were preparing for the Test series and you have to keep that in mind, obviously you understand how many overs you are going to bowl and where your body is, what is the schedule looking like, we have a long season ahead and that is why we got the break, some time out with family and then we get back to putting in the work.”
