On the eve of the 2024 county season, Lancashire’s assistant coach, Carl Crowe, departed from the club by mutual agreement. His departure comes as he seeks fresh coaching prospects elsewhere. Crowe’s decision marks the end of his tenure with Lancashire, paving the way for new opportunities in his coaching career. The club expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
Carl Crowe’s Career:
At 48, Crowe participated in 83 professional matches from 1995 to 2009. He initially served as a consultant coach for Lancashire’s spinners during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Later, he transitioned into a full-time assistant coaching role with the team in late 2021. Crowe’s extensive experience as both a player and a coach has contributed significantly to the development of spin bowling within the Lancashire cricket setup.
Before joining Lancashire, Crowe gained recognition in the T20 franchise circuit, notably for his collaboration with Sunil Narine. His expertise and contributions in this format of the game have been widely acknowledged, adding to his reputation as a skilled coach in the cricketing community.
He said, “ I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Emirates Old Trafford, but I have decided the time is right in my coaching career to now move on and seek some exciting new opportunities.”
He further added, “It was a pleasure to work for the Red Rose and I am sure that there are successful times ahead for this group. I would like to wish Dale, Keaton, the players, and our Members and supporters all the very best for the future.”
Mark Chilton’s Words on This:
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton said, “Carl has made the decision to pursue new opportunities in his coaching career and we fully respect his decision to do so. I would like to thank him for all his hard work since joining us permanently in 2021 and wish him the best of luck with what is to come.
He also said, “The club has enjoyed a really strong and productive relationship with Carl during the past few years and we would certainly be open to working together again in the future in some way, should the right opportunity present itself.
He added, “The wheels are already in motion to make a new addition to the coaching staff and we will be making an announcement about this in due course.”
