Mark Chapman’s brilliance against Pakistan in the final T20I saw New Zealand managing to draw series 2-2. As a result, he has been added to the New Zealand ODI squad for their upcoming 5-match series against Pakistan starting on Thursday in Rawalpindi.
After impressing everyone with his performance in the recently concluded T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand, Mark Chapman has been called up for the ODI series against Pakistan as well. Chapman finished the T20I series as the highest run-scorer with 290 runs in five games. His runs tally is the most by any player in a five-match T20I series. In the final match, he remained unbeaten with a 57-ball 104 and completed the chase for New Zealand.
As far as the ODIs are concerned, out of seven ODIs, he played two for Hong Kong and then played his first ODI for New Zealand in 2018. In his last ODI appearance for the country he scored a match-winning 101* against Scotland. While speaking of Chapman, NZ coach Gary Stead said,”The way Mark’s played against one of the best T20 bowling attacks in the world has been nothing short of outstanding. His match-winning knock in the fifth and deciding match was particularly special and we’re happy to have someone in such strong form added to our ODI squad.”
Rawalpindi will host the first two ODIs starting on April 26, with the last three matches set to take place in Karachi. The final game will be played on May 7. Dane Cleaver will return home after completion of T20 series and Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls will join the ODI squad.
