As the excitement builds for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, cricket fans eagerly await the action-packed tournament set to unfold in the United Arab Emirates this October. With the squads for all ten participating teams now officially announced, let’s take a closer look at the lineups that will battle it out for the coveted trophy.
Before the main competition begins, each team will participate in two warm-up matches, allowing them to experiment with their 15-player squads. These practice games, played over 20 overs per side, will not carry official T20I status. The teams will be split into two groups – A and B – with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
Group A: Defending Champions Australia Face Tough Competition
Defending champions Australia will face stiff competition in Group A, including India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Led by Alyssa Healy, the Aussies will aim for their seventh title, boasting a squad filled with experienced stars like Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, and Megan Schutt.

New Zealand, led by Sophie Devine, will rely on Amelia Kerr‘s spin wizardry and Lea Tahuhu’s pace to make its mark. Pakistan, captained by Fatima Sana, will aim to surprise their opponents with Nida Dar’s experience and the potential of youngsters like Tuba Hassan.
Sri Lanka, the last team to announce their squad, will be led by the experienced Chamari Athapaththu. They will look to their spin trio of Inoka Ranaweera, Sugandika Kumari, and Ama Kanchana to cause upsets in the group stage.
