Complete Squad Of Gujarat Giants After WPL Auction 2024

Yesterday, after the Women’s Premier League auction that was held in Mumbai, all the franchises have finally announced their team squads for the much-anticipated tournament set to be commenced in the months of February and March. All the teams had a wonderful bigging game at the auction with Gujarat Giants roping in the second most joint expensive player.

The inaugural season of 2023 did not prove to be a great campaign for the Giants as they ended up winning just 2 matches out of the 8 matches they played. They finished fifth i.e last on the leaderboard and missed the knockout stages of the tournament. But in that comparison, its bidding war at the auction held recently proved to be beneficiary for the Giants where it looks all different, determined to clinch the coveted trophy in the second season of the League.

Roping in essentials

With its second most joint expensive bid, it acquired the services of Indian all-rounder Kashvee Gautam for INR 2 crores, breaking all the records. The bidding war involved Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. After Gautam, the team further went down straight to acquire the services of Meghna Singh and Trisha Poojitha. Among the overseas players, the franchise also picked up Australian batter Phoebe Litchfield for INR 1 crore.

Before the auction, the Giants retained 8 players , featuring 3 overseas players. The franchise had 10 available slots, including 3 for overseas players. After completing their squads of 18 players, the Giants still have 1.45 crore left in their purse.
