Confusion Looms Over the Pitch for India-Bangladesh Second Test, Teams in the Dark Over  Pitch Choice

It is almost time for the second Test match of the India vs Bangladesh two-match Test series. After winning the first Test match with a massive margin of 280- runs, Team India is high on confidence, the second match is set to unfold at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. There is a lot of buzz going over the Kanpur pitch. Two black-soil pitches are prepared ahead of the Test match but both teams have no idea of which pitch will used for the second Test match.

Two Black-Soil Ptches Prepared in Kanpur:

The curators in Kanpur have prepared two distinct pitches for the upcoming second and final Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium. One pitch features the traditional black soil known for supporting spin bowlers. It tends to become lower and slower as the match advances but generally offers good batting conditions during the initial two days.

The second pitch resembles those found in Chennai, where the ball tends to zip through during the first two days. In Chennai, top-order batters faced difficulties while the lower-order players found ideal conditions for batting. This variation in pitch types will present unique challenges for both teams, making the match an intriguing contest.

Abhishek Nayar on the Pitch:

Before the match started on September 27, India’s batting coach Abhishek Nayar talked about the pitch. He said, “To be honest, I don’t know which surface we are going to play on yet. Both the pitches look pretty good. Kanpur is always known to have good pitches. I am not sure about the bounce yet.”

Later he said, “ I think, with the conditions and the forecast, it is going to be interesting as to how when we turn up to go in the morning, the conditions are. I think a lot will depend on that because as you know in Test wicket, conditions can be a huge factor in how the pitch plays.”

Lastly, he added, “ So it is too early for us to judge and decide or have any sort of thought process on the pitch or the conditions. But we are hoping we come in tomorrow to a sunny day and not an overcast Kanpur.”
