St Lucia Kings Secure USA’s T20 Hero Aaron Jones for the Upcoming CPL Season

The entire cricket world is set to feel another thrilling T20 tournament. The Caribbean Premier League is coming up with another exciting season. Before stepping into this season, the draft of this upcoming season happened. And USA’s T20 World Cup star Aaron Jones earned a CPl contract as ST Lucia Kings signed him for the upcoming season.

CPL Contract for Aaron Jones:

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to take place from August 29 to October 4 this year. Recently, on July 15, the CPL draft was conducted where teams completed their squad selections for the upcoming tournament. Aaron Jones, known for his standout performance for USA during the T20 World Cup 2024, secured a contract in the CPL. Representing the St Lucia Kings.

Jones qualifies as a local player through his Barbados passport and has experience playing in West Indies’ regional teams for Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges. He was part of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots squad in CPL 2019, although he did not get to play.

Jones played a crucial innings in the T20 World Cup, scoring an unbeaten 94 against Canada and a vital 36 not out in the USA’s tie against Pakistan, which they eventually won in the Super Over. He has been a standout batter in the ongoing USA season, consistently performing well with the bat.

The Other Signings of CPL: 

The CPL teams are gearing up with strengthened squads as they prepare for the tournament scheduled from August 29 to October 4. All six teams finalized their squads for the upcoming season through signings and retentions, completing their rosters during Monday’s draft. The St Lucia Kings made significant additions, including Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Mikkel Govia, and Akeem Auguste. 

They also secured the services of Aaron Jones. Kyle Mayers was the first pick for the Patriots in the draft, joined by Mikyle Louis, who recently debuted in Test cricket at Lord’s, along with Ryan John and Veerasammy Permaul.

Barbados Royals signed Isai Thorne, adding depth to their squad, while Raymon Reifer, Ronaldo Alimohamed, and Matthew Nandu joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Mikkel Govia, and Akeem Auguste were also listed in the Kings’ lineup alongside Aaron Jones.
