On this momentous Independence Day, India is filled with celebration. Cricket legends across the nation extend their heartfelt wishes, joining in the national festivities to honor the significance of the day and the spirit of freedom.

India’s 78th Independence Day and Cricketer’s Wish:

On August 15, 2024, India will commemorate its 78th Independence Day, celebrating the end of nearly 200 years of British rule. This year’s theme, “Viksit Bharat” or “Developed India,” reflects the government’s vision of transforming the nation by 2047, marking a century of independence. As the country joins in the festivities, Indian cricketers also extend their heartfelt wishes to the citizens, sharing in the national pride.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir and former captains Anil Kumble, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sachin Tendulkar are among the prominent figures who have shared their heartfelt wishes for Independence Day on social media. Their messages contribute to the nationwide celebration, reflecting their pride and respect for the historic occasion.

While wishing the country, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar wrote, “Sportspersons aren’t the only ones playing for India. Every Indian who does their job with honesty and sincerity is a key player for Team India. So, when the national anthem plays today, know that it’s for you, and I hope you’ll feel the same way I did when I heard it every time I stepped out to play for India. सभी को स्वतंत्रता दिवस की ढेर सारी शुभकामनाएँ। #IndependenceDay.”
