The Portugal crowd is all set to cheer the loudest for CR 7. The UEFA Nations League is set to commence soon and the teams are announcing their star-studded squad. Cristiano Ronaldo has been named into Portugal’s squad. As the team is set to face Croatia on September 5, Ronaldo will be seen representing his team once again.

Ronaldo is Back in the Portugal Squad:

The UEFA Nations League is all set to commence at the beginning of September. Before stepping into the tournament, Portugal gave an interesting twist to their squad for this tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo is included in Portugal’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. Putting this legend of the game in their squad, Portugal got a huge boost ahead of the tournament.

Portugal coach Roberto Martínez has selected Cristiano Ronaldo for the first two UEFA Nations League matches, despite the forward’s disappointing European Championship performance. The squad, announced on Friday, will face Croatia at home on September 5 and Scotland on September 8. Ronaldo’s inclusion marks a key decision as Portugal looks to make a strong start in the competition.

The Struggle and Aim to Shine Brighter:

Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the most international goals in men’s football with 130 goals. However, he went goalless in all five of Portugal’s matches at Euro 2024 before they were eliminated by France in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals. This followed a similar pattern from the FIFA World Cup 2022, where Ronaldo scored only once, in the opening match against Ghana, and was later benched during the knockout stages.

Despite recent struggles in major tournaments, Ronaldo has been in excellent form lately. The Al Nassr forward showcased his brilliance by scoring a stunning free-kick goal, leading his team to a 4-1 victory over Al Feiha. This goal marked the 899th of his career, putting him just one free-kick goal away from tying Lionel Messi’s record of 65 free-kick goals. Coach Roberto Martínez is focusing on a “new cycle” with an eye on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
