Dasun shanaka’s contribution:
Dasun Shanaka has been the best captain of the Sri Lankan team. He made his ODI debut on June 16, 2016 against Ireland. Till now he played 62 ODI matches and scored 1164 runs. Coming to the captaincy record, earlier in his career he was appointed as T20 captain of Sri Lanka. Despite his successful T20 captaincy, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board handed over the ODI captaincy to him. To date, he played 39 ODI matches as captain. He made his captaincy debut on 18 July 2021 against India. As a captain, he scored 503 runs and took 17 wickets in ODI. He won 58% of ODI matches he played as captain. He registered 23 wins in 39 ODI matches.
In the Asia Cup 2023, Sri Lanka faced India in the final. It was a nightmare for them. They got all out for 50 runs. Any of their batters didn’t stand tall in front of Indian bowlers. Mohammed Siraj single-handedly took the match away from the opponent. He took 6 wickets in just 21 runs.
Before the World Cup, Sri Lanka will play two warm-up matches. One is against Bangladesh on September 29 and the other one is against Afghanistan on October 3. On November 2, Sri Lanka will face India after their defeat against India. They will be ready to take revenge. This year India is hosting the World Cup.
