David Warner’s Backs Konstas As BBL Opening Parter For Thunder

David Warner hinted at Sam Kostas he opening partner for the Sydney Thunder in the upcoming season. The decision came after Konstas stellar form. While Cameron Bancroft is still a contender. Warner aims to bounce back from previous season’s struggle and set an example.

Warner leans Towards Konstas As Opening Partner 

David Warner showed his interest towards Sam Konstas as his opening partner for the new BBL season with Sydney Thunder. Warner is set to play his first full BBL season, post retirement. Warner is set to provide a significant boost to Thunder’s campaign. Sydney Thunder had faced  disappointment in the last season as they finished the season at the bottom of the points table.

Cameron Bancroft is still a contender bu in the summers he has turned heads with his exceptional form. However, the Thunder captain emphasized that the final decision will be made after discussions and warm-up games.

“We’ll speak about it this week. I’m probably erring between myself and Sammy Konstas at the top,” Warner said.

Konstas Impressive Performance 

19 years old Sam Konstas has been a standout performer this season. He showed his talent with tein centuries in New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield Opener. He further made his strong reputation with another century for the Prime Minister’s XI against India in a 50- over fixture.

Warner admired Konstas ability but highlighted that adjustments are required in the T20 format. “It’s about going out there in the Twenty20 stuff and trying to work out how to play that format as well,” Warner explained.

Bancroft Mixed Form

Cameron Bancroft has entered the season with the burden of his inconsistent performance this summer. Despite failing to score beyond 20 in most, he somehow managed a timely unbeaten 105 score in Sheffield Shield Game.

With stars like Sherfane Rutherford and Ollie Davis Warner is still optimistic about Thunder’s batting strength.

“I’m excited. I’ll uphold my standards, contribute to the team, and ensure we’re all on the same page,” Warner concluded.
