Parth Jindal Confirmed Rishabh Pant’s Retention for IPL 2024:
Parth Jindal, the owner of Delhi Capitals, has confirmed that star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will be retained for the 2025 Indian Premier League season. This announcement comes after Pant’s impressive comeback to competitive cricket this year. His retention underscores the team’s belief in his talent and potential impact as they prepare for the upcoming season, aiming to strengthen their roster around such a vital player.
Parth Jindal revealed, “ Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made. Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained.”
He added, “ We also have Axar Patel, who is excellent, Criston Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, all very good players in our team. We’ll see what happens in the auction. But first, as per the rule, we can retain six players. After discussions, we will proceed with the auction and see what happens…”
The IPL 2025 retention rules have been announced, allowing teams to keep a maximum of six players. However, if a franchise decides to retain all six, they will not have the option to use the Right to Match (RTM) card during the auction. This limitation has sparked discussions and speculation regarding which players each team will opt to retain as they strategize for the upcoming season, aiming to create the most competitive squad possible.
Last season marked Rishabh Pant’s return to the field after an extended injury hiatus, and he performed admirably upon his comeback. As the captain of Delhi Capitals, he guided the team to a sixth-place finish by the end of the season. Pant’s leadership and contributions were vital, showcasing his skills and determination to help the franchise compete effectively in the tournament.
