Derbyshire has signed batter Caleb Jewell as an overseas player for the 2025 season. Jewell has played for Australia A. The Aussie star is set to participate in all formats for the team. His addition marks the club’s second signing for the upcoming campaign.
Jewell boasts an average of 31.47 in first-class cricket. He played a key role for Tasmania in the 2023-24 Sheffield Shield, where the team reached the finals. During this season, he achieved a career-best score of 227 against Western Australia.
In addition to his first-class achievements, Jewell has amassed over 2,200 runs in white-ball formats. He has four List-A centuries and five T20 half-centuries to his credit. His diverse skill set and experience make him a valuable asset for Derbyshire as they look to strengthen their lineup for the 2025 season.

Caleb Jewell’s recruitment in the club added strength to their new squad. Ahead of the 2025 season, the club is eyeing to make a strong squad after facing setbacks in the recent season. Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket Mickey Arthur is all excited about this new addition. While talking about this, he said, “Caleb is a player I’ve had my eye on for some time, and everyone I have spoken to about him has said just what a good player he is. Chief Selector for Cricket Australia, George Bailey, and Ian Bell, in particular, spoke very highly of his ability.”
Later he added, “We have recognised that our batting line-up needed reinforcement, across all formats, and having Caleb here for the full season will allow us to build that consistency we need. He will bring real grit to the top of the order.”
