Former and most successful captain of India, MS Dhoni paid a visit for blessings in Deori Maa temple in Ranchi on Tuesday, February 6. Since retiring from international cricket in 2020, he has been relishing his time away from the limelight and frequently appearing in his hometown.
The wicketkeeper-batsman visited the temple amidst a crowd of his fans, graciously posing for selfies with them. As the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, he is anticipated to participate in his final season in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Thus, he chose to seek divine blessings ahead of the tournament.
Dhoni’s Previous Year of IPL:
In 2023, Dhoni led CSK to their fifth IPL title, matching the record, with a thrilling victory over defending champions Gujarat Titans in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite battling a knee injury throughout the season, the renowned ‘Captain Cool’ showcased his vintage form, taking on bowlers from the outset. Throughout the tournament, Dhoni smashed 104 runs from 12 innings, exhibiting a strike rate of 182.45, which included three boundaries and ten sixes.
With the gloves, he recorded the third-highest number of dismissals in the season, totaling 10, comprising 7 catches and 3 stumpings from 16 innings. Dhoni also holds the seventh position among the all-time leading run scorers in IPL history, accumulating 5082 runs from 218 innings at an average of 38.79 and a strike rate of 135.91which includes 24 half-centuries.

MSD also holds the fourth position for the most sixes in the tournament’s history with 239 wickets by his name. The 2023 edition was speculated to be the final season for ‘Captain Cool’, drawing fans from across India to stadiums to witness their beloved ‘Thala’ in action.
However, during the post-match presentation in the final, Dhoni surprised many by expressing his willingness to return for the next season. He saw it as a gesture of gratitude, aiming to reciprocate the immense love showered upon him by fans throughout the country.
