Mohammed Siraj was already prepared to try his hand at spin, showing his willingness by miming a spin delivery and twirling the ball in his hands. However, the light continued to deteriorate, making it unsafe to play. Despite Siraj’s readiness, the umpires decided it was best to stop the game. The players had no choice but to walk off the field as play was called off due to poor visibility.

Bad Light Forced An Early Called Off:

The third day of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh turned out to be an exciting one. After India ended up day two after losing three quick wickets, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant gave a dazzling start to day three. Both the fellow batters scored a century. After coming back to the longest format after the accident, this was Pant’s first century. The wicketkeeper-batter played a knock of 109 runs in 128 balls. 

On the other hand, Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 119 runs in 176 balls as India declared their innings on 287/4. With a huge lead of 514 runs, they proceeded to the second innings, After Bangladesh gave a decent start, Jasprit Bumrah got the opening breakthrough for Team India.

Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his supremacy on Chennai pitch again. He secured three crucial wickets while conceding 63 runs. In this pressured situation, Najmul Hossain Shanto was unbeaten scoring 51 runs in 60 balls. Shakib Al is unbeaten scoring 5 runs. Bad light ended the curtains of day 3 early on.
