Duleep Trophy 2024: Schedule, Venue, Live Updates, and Teams All You Need to Know

The 2024 domestic cricket season in India kicks off with the Duleep Trophy on September 5. This year’s tournament, India’s premier first-class red-ball competition, introduces a fresh format with four teams vying for the championship.

Anticipation is high for this edition, which promises to be star-studded. The lineup includes prominent Test players like KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Their participation is expected to elevate the competition and provide fans with thrilling cricketing action. The 2024 Duleep Trophy matches are scheduled to start at 9 A.M., Indian Standard Time (IST).

Format:

Historically, the Duleep Trophy followed a zonal format, featuring six teams representing different regions of India. This traditional setup allowed players from across the country to compete under zonal banners.

For the 2024 edition, however, the BCCI has revamped the format, moving to a four-team structure named A, B, C, and D. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, eliminating knockout stages. The team accumulating the highest points by the end of the round-robin phase will be declared the winner, marking a significant change from the previous format.
