Duleep Trophy: Navdeep Saini on a Roll With Both Bat and Ball, Scored Fifty and Struck Twice for India B

On the second day of the Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, Navdeep Saini struck twice, forcing Shubman Gill to be dismissed with an absolute peach of a delivery just when you thought he was about to take a massive blow. The former RCB bowler struck twice with the ball after a superb half-century to give IND-B the advantage. The ball pitched on the seam of Saini’s delivery, which was well outside off, but it moved back into the right-hander and crashed onto the stumps.

India B is in good condition so far

Rishabh Pant’s excellent catch was largely responsible for the second wicket. Pitching on the middle-stump line, the delivery was edging past the leg side. However, Pant dove to his left to complete the catch and give India B the second wicket due to a thin edge by Mayank Agarwal.

With a sizable lead on the scoreboard and frequent wickets falling throughout their bowling innings, India B appears to be well in control of the match. On the other side, Saini will be motivated to take more wickets in order to perhaps establish himself and rejoin the Indian team.

Saini is an emerging player for India

It just so happens that Saini was a member of the renowned team that went to Australia and prevailed in the 2020–21 Border-Gavaskar series. Saini had continued to bat despite being hurt, and he managed to hold his end for a respectable amount of time until Rishabh Pant struck the last runs to seal the series victory.

Performances in the Duleep Trophy will undoubtedly be evaluated since India wants to improve the depth of their fast bowlers. India’s top pacers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, have been lacking in depth, which could be costly in the forthcoming BGT 2024 series in Australia.
