East Delhi Riders clinched the 2024 Delhi Premier League title with a narrow three-run victory over South Delhi Superstarz in a thrilling final at Arun Jaitley Stadium. After winning the toss, East Delhi opted to bat but faced an early setback with their top-order crumbling for just 56 runs in 8.5 overs. However, middle-order batter Mayank Rawat anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 78 off 39 balls, smashing seven boundaries and six sixes, guiding the Riders to a competitive total of 183/5 in their 20 overs.
In response, South Delhi Superstars faltered at 81/6 in 11.1 overs before Tejaswi Dahiya launched a spirited fightback, smashing 68 off 42 balls with seven boundaries and four sixes. Vision Panchal’s quick 25 from nine balls and Digvesh Rathi’s unbeaten 21 from 16 balls kept their hopes alive, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory, falling short by three runs. Rounak Waghela’s impressive three-wicket haul, along with Simarjeet Singh’s trio of wickets, sealed the thrilling win and secured the title for East Delhi Riders.

East Delhi Riders, choosing to bat first despite overcast conditions, faced early setbacks with key players falling quickly. Anuj Rawat was dismissed for 10, Sujal Singh managed just 5, and skipper Himmat Singh could only contribute a run-a-ball 20. By the halfway mark, the Riders were struggling at 69/4 after 10 overs, with their top order failing to capitalize.
However, Mayank Rawat turned the tide with a breathtaking display of power-hitting. Known for his aggressive style, Rawat launched a relentless assault, including a game-changing final over where he smashed Ayush Badoni for five sixes. His unbeaten 78 off just 39 deliveries, at a stunning strike rate of 200, lifted East Delhi Riders to a formidable total and left the opposition reeling. He is also awarded with Player of the Award for his masterclass.
