I enjoyed sledging Shane Warne the most: Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, a player known for his aggression on the field and these days, off the field as well. He is one of those who never holds himself back whenever the opposition is at him. There have been numerous incidents of the left-hander getting involved in altercations with players from the opposite camp.

His fights with Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal have been making the rounds on the internet for years now yet when he was asked to pick a player he loved to sledge the most, he picked Australia’s legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne as his favorite.

Gautam Gambhir never played against Warne in international cricket but the duo came head to head in the Indian Premier League on a number of occasions. The southpaw recalled an incident involving a heated argument of Shane Warne and Sourav Ganguly. He said that he sledged Warne the next time he faced the Australian leggie.

“I enjoyed sledging Shane Warne the most. I never played against him in an international game but yes, during the IPL, I sledged him a lot. I still remember telling him that the next time he should send the text to the right person,” said Gautam Gambhir as quoted by Sportswallah.

Morne Morkel the fiercest

Gambhir was asked to select the fiercest bowler he has ever faced and he took South African pacer Morne Morkel’s name. Morkel has played under the captaincy of the Indian left-hander for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

“Morne Morkel is the fiercest bowler I have ever faced. That’s why we got him in KKR as well. I thought he was the toughest bowler I faced. Even when he was playing for Delhi. Every time I faced him, I wish we had him in our team. And the moment he was released, I said Morne Morkel,” added Gambhir.
