India’s Rohit Sharma opens up on Head Coach Gautam Gambhir. The Indian cricket team is now in Sri Lanka for India’s tour of Sri Lanka series. The series has 3 T20I matches and 3 ODI matches.

With India winning the T20I series 3-0 after a thrilling third fixture, the men in blue are turning towards the ODI series. Rohit Sharma will be the captain for team India in the ODI matches.

In the T20I series, India won 3-0. The first match of the tournament witnessed team India winning the match by 43 runs. The second match too, was a single sided win, with India defeating the hosts by 7 wickets by the DLS method.

Meanwhile, in the third match, India was low on hopes until Head Coach Gautam Gambhir turned the tables. In the last two overs of India bowling, Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh were sent to bowl, and they both took crucial wickets, not giving away many runs. India won the match in the Super Over.

It was a shocking and heartbreaking news when team India fans found out that the star captain Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket. Rohit, coached by Rahul Dravid led team India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Sharma along with Virat Kohli was on vacation for the Sri Lanka series, but later, both agreed to play. The veteran cricketers have made their comeback for team India. This was also a supportive gesture to New Head Coach Gautam Gambhir.

Recently, Rohit Sharma spoke about having Gambhir as a new coach. The ODI team is currently practicing in Sri Lanka. “Gautam Gambhir is my new coach. He is a double world cup champion. I will work according to his vision.” Rohit said.

“Gautam Gambhir has played a lot of cricket, he worked for franchises before coming to the Indian team – we played a bit of cricket together, every new coaching set-up brings on something different”. He added.

India squad for ODI series:

Several cricketers from team India’s T20I squad have not been added into the ODI team. Promising players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are no longer included in the ODI team. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have returned, marking their comebacks.
