Basit Ali reacted to Ricky Ponting‘s prediction that Australia will win 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ali said this is just mind games from Australia and pointed out that India won the last two series in Australia.

He joked that Australia could only whitewash India if key Indian players were missing. Ali also challenged Steve Smith to open the batting against India‘s strong bowlers and questioned his performance against tougher teams.

“Does the Australian team have the courage to prepare a grassy or bouncy track? Will Steve Smith open the batting this time too? He changed his batting position to open against weaker teams. Open the batting now, it will be fun”. Said Ali.
