In a viral video, cricket legend of his time, Kambli seemed to be in a fragile state. He was using a motorcycle for support just to remain upright. Struggling to walk, he needed help from bystanders as he was escorted into a building.
Kambli has faced various health challenges over the years, including a heart attack in 2013, despite having undergone angioplasty the previous year to clear two blocked arteries.
Seeing his popularity despite getting sidelined early in his career, the video soon went viral. Social media users were quick to share and comment on the old video, spreading misinformation.

The video’s circulation prompted his friends to check on him. According to a Hindustan Times report, Kambli spent five hours reminiscing with his school friend Ricky and first-class umpire Marcus. Vinod reassured them not to trust social media and confirmed that he is looking after his health.
“He was in jolly mood when we met him. He’s recovering well and is in much better condition. The video being circulated is outdated. He doesn’t have belly fat and eat his food well.” Cricket umpire Marcus said.“The entire family was present and enjoying each other’s company. His son, Cristiano, also a left-hand batter like his father, was taking batting tips from his father.” He added.
