Pakistani opener, Fakhar Zaman is not having a memorable outing in Asia cup 2023. He is one the most seasoned players of his team, but has failed to create an impact of that kind. Yesterday when pakistan announced their 11, his name was missing. But on Thursday, before the match, the men in green announced a changed team. Which included the name of Fakhar Zaman.
Not Finding the groove
Starting from the first game, against Nepal, it was very evident that Fakhar is not very comfortable on the crease. In the next two matches against Bangladesh and India, he scored nominal 20 and 27 respectively.
Playing for the ticket to final of this tournament, against Sri Lanka on thursday, Fakhar could not even take his score to double digits. Fakhar looked to drive a full length delivery, but it swung in late and crashed into the base of the stumps. He had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring just 4 off 11 balls.
In the entire tournament, he has just managed to collect 65 runs at an average of 16.25 with a dipping strike rate of 60.
Hopes Before World Cup
Fakhar Zaman, undoubtedly is one of special talents in longer format of the white ball game.
He started his career in an exhilarating way, when he smashed three consecutive centuries against New Zealand in a home series. He also bagged the ICC player of the month award for the month of April.
Pakistani team and its fan would want Fakhar to be back in form before the onset of World Cup. The men in green would never want an asset like him to be out because of his dipping form.
End Moment Changes
The playing 11 that was announced yesterday by Pakistan incorporated some changed , before the big clash against the Lankas. Test specialist Saud Shakeel and opener Imam-ul-haq sustained back spasms before the match. Hence Zaman and Abdullah Shafique wee inducted in the XI.
