Former Indian Cricketer Dinesh Karthik Predicts Clean Sweep for India vs Bangladesh

Dinesh Karthik predicts a routine clean sweep for India in their upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, citing the challenge of beating India at home. He also anticipates India preparing pace-friendly pitches to test Bangladesh and prepare for the Australian series.

Dinesh Karthik Predicts a Routine Victory for India

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik believes Bangladesh won’t give India much of a challenge in their upcoming two-match Test series.

Despite Bangladesh’s recent historic whitewash over Pakistan, Karthik is confident that India, especially on home soil, will comfortably secure a clean sweep.

Bangladesh has never won a red-ball match against India, with 11 losses and two draws in their previous encounters.

Although Bangladesh’s cricketing stature has risen recently, including significant away wins against New Zealand, beating India in India is a formidable task.

India has not lost a Test series at home since 2012, and Karthik does not expect Bangladesh to be the side to break this streak.

Karthik shared his thoughts during a recent interview on Cricbuzz, where he noted Bangladesh’s strong recent performances but doubted their ability to replicate the same success against India.

“I personally don’t think that Bangladesh will give India a tough time. Beating India in India is a humongous task, and although Bangladesh has played well in Pakistan, I don’t believe they’ll trouble India much,” Karthik stated.

India to Opt for Pace-Friendly Pitches

In addition to his prediction for a clean sweep, Karthik also offered insight into India’s possible game plan for the series.

He speculated that India might prepare more pace-friendly pitches to test Bangladesh’s batting lineup and also to prepare for their upcoming series against Australia.

“I get the feeling India’s going to play on slightly pace-oriented pitches, knowing that it’s a good way to beat Bangladesh. Also, they will be preparing for the Australian Test series,” Karthik said.

He believes India will likely include three seamers in their playing XI, which could mean that spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel may miss out.

The Men in Blue might go with experienced all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, alongside three fast bowlers.

The first Test is scheduled to start on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, a venue known for its spin-friendly conditions.

However, Karthik’s prediction suggests that India could surprise everyone by playing to their pace attack’s strengths.
