Team India skipper Rohit Sharma recently led the Men in Blue from the front in the just concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in which India emerged as defending champions. Team India faced Australia in the finals but collapsed due to unfortunate reasons after finishing first among the top 4 teams to qualify for the semi-finals. Despite the heart wrenching loss, India had a memorable World Cup campaign on its home soil with Virat Kohli becoming the leading run getter and player of the tournament.
Captain Rohit Sharma has been receiving enormous appreciation for leading his team brilliantly as under his captaincy, the team won 10 consecutive tournaments for the first time in the history of World Cup. The kind of start he gave in each innings,always guided the team to a commendable score. During and after the World Cup, former cricketers and fans have been lauding him for playing a selfless knock for his team.
Rohit and Virat’s T20 future
Recently, while speaking in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC), veteran West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle spoke about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma deciding their T20 cricket future. The former cricketer reckoned that both these players have the right to decide whether they want to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup or not which is to be held in the year 2024.
“Those guys have to make a call for themselves. If they want to play, why not? They have done a lot for the country and they deserve to make a call on themselves”, he added.
Gayle’s liking for Rohit’s batting style
The 44-year old former cricketer also heaped praise on Rohit Sharma’s aggressive batting style expressing a liking for the way he starts his knock. “I like his aggressive batting. I want batters to destroy bowlers and Rohit Sharma is one of them who does that”, remarked Gayle.
