From a homeless pani puri seller to an IPL star, read Yashasvi Jaiswal’s inspirational story

Yashasvi Jaiswal, IPL’s latest centurion, has inspired millions of people around the world with his incredible journey from selling pani puris to becoming an IPL star. Jaiswal’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and a never-give-up attitude.

A small towner

Coming from a very small town in Uttar Pradesh, Yashasvi Jaiswal had to move to the flashy streets of Mumbai at the age of 11, and that too without his parents. He lived with his uncle who eventually asked him to move out because of logistical problems.

Jaiswal had to sell pani puris on the streets of Mumbai to support himself. However, despite the financial struggles he faced, he never let go of his passion for cricket. He spent hours practicing on the streets and playing for local teams, hoping that one day he would make it big. He would practice in the Azad Maidan in Mumbai during the day, sell pani puris after practice, and then sleep in a tent nearby his practice ground.

Rajasthan Royals spot the talent

Jaiswal’s talent did not go unnoticed. He was eventually selected to play for the Mumbai cricket team, where he continued to impress with his skills. However, his dream was to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and subsequently for the Indian team. In 2020, Jaiswal’s dream finally came true when he was selected to play for the Rajasthan Royals IPL team. It was a proud moment for Jaiswal, who had come a long way from selling pani puris on the streets. But his journey was far from over.
