The opening slot for Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma began his career as a middle-order batsman in 2007. But thanks to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he was promoted during 2011. The decision changed Rohit Sharma’s career and he eventually cemented his place in the Indian cricket national team as a top-order batsman. In fact, currently, Rohit Sharma is one of the best top-order batters in the world. While he did extremely well in the limited-overs, the Test cricket was still not his game. In 2019 he was seen opening even in Test cricket and he scored 176 on debut as Test opener for India. Experts started talking about the comeback of Rohit Sharma yet again and this time in Test cricket in his favourite slot.

On Star Sports’ Cricket Connected Show, Gautam Gambhir said, “He is a fabulous white-ball cricketer, probably a better record than anyone of us including Virender Sehwag. But Test cricket is a completely different ball game.” He reminded how Sehwag had two triple-hundred in Test cricket and continued, “Yes, I could see the brilliance of it but let’s see where his cricket goes because Virender Sehwag has got two triple-hundreds. So, I hope Rohit Sharma can be as successful as Virender Sehwag in Test cricket.”
