Sunil Gavaskar, former india captain wants Mahendra Singh Dhoni to bat higher in the order in the Indian Premier League. He has urged the same as Dhoni would get more time in the middle and make a difference for his side, Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

Chennai Super Kings are ready to host Rajasthan Royals in a major clash in IPL 2023 on Wednesday after winning their previous match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Gavaskar while speaking on Star Sports spoke in detail about Dhoni’s batting position. According to him Dhoni should bat up in the order to be able to play more. That will also make a good difference for his team in the league.
“I am hoping MS Dhoni promotes himself higher in the batting order. So that he gets to play more than two or three overs in the games. He can make that difference for CSK with his batting because he is capable of scoring big runs,” Gavaskar said while speaking on Star Sports.
Dhoni to lead CSK for 200th time
On Wednesday Dhoni will lead Chennai Super Kings for the 200th time in the Indian Premier League when his side will take on Rajasthan Royals for an epic clash at the Chepauk Stadium. He has played 213 IPL matches as captain for Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants in the T20 league. The legendary captain has a win percentage of 58.96 as he has won 125 matches and lost 87.
Dhoni debuted as a wicketkeeper-batter in the IPL against Punjab Kings at Punjab Cricket Association’s IS Bindra Stadium back in 2008. In 236 IPL games, he has accumulated over 5004 runs as a player. He has recently completed 5000 runs in the IPL to become the seventh player and joined the elite list comprising of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Warner, Rohit Sharma, Raina, and AB de Villiers.
